    Horse Shoe Studs

Steel horseshoe studs are screwed into a horse's shoes to provide both horse and rider with extra traction. When looking to use horseshoe studs, a farrier must first prepare the horse's shoes by drilling and then tapping holes into the heels and occasionally the toes of the horseshoes. Horseshoe studs are most appropriately used when horses are faced with footing challenges, such as grass or mud, giving them extra grip in their footing. Most horse riders who decide to use horseshoe studs generally have an assortment with them to allow for different types of footing they may encounter during competition.
